A new approach to private gynaecology

Access to expert specialist gynaecologist information and options

Nobody should be suffering from pain, discomfort or embarrassment. Our private gynaecology clinics are led by GPs who specialise in primary care women’s health, which means our menopause patients speak to a dedicated menopause gynaecologist, likewise for women wanting to discuss contraception.

From preventative care to examinations, treatments and second opinions, everything we do is based around you as an individual. Our personalised appointments give you the time to talk through your concerns and ask all your questions, which we’ll answer with expertise and understanding. Our all-female team appreciates the significance of your experiences. We listen and we hear you. We give you all the information and options, so that you can make the right choice for your body, your life and your lifestyle.

NHS GP & self referrals

We accept NHS GP referrals, or you can even refer yourself. And because we have greater flexibility with appointments, we can offer shorter wait times and dates that fit in with your schedule or cycle. Then, we’ll discuss the best gynaecology care pathways for you, whether it’s referral back to the NHS for treatment, or connecting you with a private consultant gynaecologist.

There’s nothing you can’t talk to us about, and you will always be taken seriously.

What our patients think

Really constructive appointment with Dr Welch who is knowledgeable, reassuring and empathetic. She gives clear explanations and advice whilst taking a collaborative approach. From my experience, I would highly recommend her care. Thank you.

Sam, Chipping Norton

What an incredible service, from start to finish.  My appointment was well over 45 minutes and allowed me and the doctor to really explore the menopause factors impacting me at the moment. We drew up an action plan, and she really helped me to prioritise what mattered to me and balancing hormones, drugs and side effects.  I left with a huge weight off my shoulders, and cannot believe I waited so long to see a specialist. The appointment was world’s way from my NHS experience and worth every penny.

Amber, Oxford

Excellent and friendly service. Women’s health appointment in the St Albans clinic, which was welcoming and professional.

Michele, St Albans

Having been let down by my own GP Practice regarding a coil fitting so I booked an appointment at St Lukes with Dr Amy Kelly, as soon as you walk into the building you are met with kind and cheery faces. I had booked a Women’s Health consultation appointment and felt that I was listened to and equally questioned appropriately so that all the details were clear. I was offered the procedure there and then if I wanted and the equally lovely Megan took me through the paperwork and any revised fees. This was my third coil and by far the best procedure, I can’t believe I had suffered so much under the NHS process and how little information I had ever been given. Dr Amy and Megan made me feel so relaxed, some pain relief probably helped too but the spa music just made me giggle which all added to a sense of calm and well being. I wish that everyone had the chance to use Oxona Health and see for themselves what a fabulous team they are. I can’t recommend them more highly.

Frequently asked questions

Can I claim for my appointment on insurance?

You need to speak to your insurer prior to your appointment. Some insurers will reimburse you for the appointment, but you will need to present any documentation at the time of your appointment for the doctor to sign. Please note that all our doctors are registered with the GMC on the GP register not the consultant register. Please ensure you make this clear to your insurers at the outset.

Do you treat nervous patients?

Yes. We have the luxury of time to ensure our patients are fully informed and feel confident in the treatment they are receiving or any procedures. Our doctors are highly trained specialists in women’s health and procedures. For coil/implants, we can discuss pain relief options and assist in mitigating any fears or concerns.

How much do private prescriptions cost?

All NHS prescriptions are a set fee regardless of the cost of the drug. However, private prescriptions will be charged by the pharmacy for the individual drugs. The cost is roughly £20 for most HRT drugs, and £25 for Testosterone. A course of antibiotics can range from £5-20 per prescription. Your NHS GP may be able to prescribe HRT drugs, but this is at their discretion.
